3114. American Interests—Japan. Department’s 554, March 8, 1943.60 Swiss Minister, Tokyo, reports first payment effected 22 Americans [on] Guam. While awaiting receipts which Japanese Government requested obtain, husbands interned Kobe signed promissory notes. Gorgé inquires whether may continue such payments or await assurance recipients received payment.61
