304. Your 159, December 12, 8 p.m. I have advised both Costa and Charlone of the information regarding the credits.
Charlone was disappointed that no approval has yet been given to the request for $5,000,000 for national defense. He asked that Pierson be informed that he attaches vastly more importance to the credit for [Page 1174] this purpose (for as long term as possible) than to the other credits and that he hopes affirmative action on this request will be taken soon. I should appreciate receiving any information available in this connection.
