The American Delegate (Wilson) to the Secretary of State

633. My 632, May 8, 10 p.m.

1.
The same five met Henderson this morning. Eden stated that Nadolny had suggested that some time be given in which the questions raised in part II of the British plan might be somewhat elucidated in private conversation. Eden stated that he had no objections to this attempt being made. Nadolny said that he hoped that a general survey of the disarmament section would bring about at least a partial meeting of minds which would make the point of procedure lose its importance. Massigli assented to the suggestion. It was then agreed that Eden should keep Henderson informed of the progress of conversations and that Henderson should inform the Bureau this afternoon that in his opinion time should be given for reflection and private conversations; that he hoped to call the Bureau meeting for Friday morning and perhaps a General Commission meeting for Friday afternoon, depending upon the state of the conversations.
2.
At the meeting of the Bureau this afternoon Henderson made the statement himself and there being no opposition, that procedure was adopted.

Repeated to London.
