On behalf of the people of my country I deeply thank you for the sympathy which you were pleased to extend to the Mexican Nation in [Page 702] the name of the noble American Nation. On my own part I also thank the people of the United States for their expression of sympathy as well as you for the personal sentiments you express as their worthy Chief Magistrate.
