Sir: With reference to the Legation’s despatch No. 6960, dated May 10, 1930, the Department desires to be informed whether the formal assurance of the abolition of the sojourn tax on American citizens, referred to in the final sentence of the despatch, was received by the Legation. If it was received, it should have been communicated [Page 325] to the Department. If it was not received, the Legation should have again taken up the matter with the Foreign Office.
