Your 52, January 30, 6 p.m. I personally presented a strong note to Chamberlain on the potato shipments and verbally explained [Page 281] the whole situation, urging him to raise the embargo in view of the certificate Department proposed. He promised to take the matter up [with] the Minister of Agriculture at once as the matter of shipments from Canada was under investigation, but made no definite promises.
