The Secretary of State to the Minister in China (Crane)
Sir: There is enclosed herewith for your information a copy of a letter of June 6, 1921,71 from Mr. John Jay Abbott, Vice-President of the Continental and Commercial Trust and Savings Bank, of Chicago, regarding his proposed trip to China for the purpose of investigating the political and financial situation in that country with a view to the renewal of the loan made by his bank in 1919.
The Department will be glad if you will cooperate with Mr. Abbott and give him all proper assistance in the investigations and negotiations which he expects to undertake in China.
