59. A Crown Council was held yesterday afternoon at the Palace to examine the situation created by the events in Germany. Legally [sic] desiring to affirm the principle of solidarity among the Allies in their attitude toward Germany and to give a testimony of friendship to France, the Government has decided to inform the French Government that it is ready to participate in the measures of occupation taken by the French Government by sending a detachment [Page 321] of troops if desired. It states that these measures must end as soon as the troops of the Reichswehr now in the valley of the Ruhr shall have evacuated the neutral zone.
