Embassy’s 1577, your No. 169, July 23, 11 a.m.1 The Department has considered wise to allow Cuban authorities to restrict call of Spanish steamers bound from Cuba for Mexican ports and this has now been agreed to by Cuban authorities. Can see no objections to arranging with Spanish Transatlantic and Pinillos Lines to cease their calls to Mexican ports and so soon as you have arranged please cable and we will instruct connecting lines accordingly; also Cuban officials as to transshipments.
