We are in receipt of a letter from the British Embassy stating that the British Government would not agree to any deduction [Page 1336] below 200,000 tons in the amount of tonnage to be placed at the disposal of the Allies under the terms of the proposed agreement with Denmark and that the British Government would not make any concession on account of the 40,000 tons of Danish ships sunk by German submarines while in Allied service. Repeat to Copenhagen.
