Sir: Referring to previous correspondence, and particularly to the embassy’s note of the 17th ultimo, wherein it was stated that the Mexican Government was conducting a thorough investigation to determine the sovereignty of the territory on which Messrs. Converse and Blatt were captured, I have the honor to say that the Department has not yet been advised of the results of that investigation, and because of the urgency of the matter would much appreciate the receipt of such advice at an early day.
