Sir: On the receipt of your note of the 24th ultimo I requested the Governor General of Canada to ascertain whether Mr. LaFleur would be disposed to act as presiding commissioner in the United States-Mexican Boundary Arbitration respecting the international title to the Chamizal tract.

Lord Grey now informs me that this invitation was duly conveyed to Mr. LeFleur, who replies that he would consider it an honor to act in the capacity indicated, and requests that the Government of the United States and Mexico may be notified accordingly.
