By order of the department of foreign relations, the Embassy of Mexico has the honor to apprize the Department of State that, according to reports from the consul of Mexico at El Paso, Tex., several shots were fired yesterday at the Mexican side from the American side, and with reserve of such rectifications or confirmations as may result from the investigation it is conducting the [Page 479] embassy desires to call the Department of State’s attention to the gravity of the fact related in the aforesaid reports.
