A proclamation dated Gonaives, August 5, proclaiming Leconte chief of the executive power was read in the streets on the morning of the 6th and accepted with calmness. Leconte entered the city at 12.30 with 300 followers and repaired at once to the cathedral for mass. Quiet prevails.
