Excellency: I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your note of the 28th ultimo, inclosing a letter addressed by His Majesty the King to the President acknowledging letters from the President which were delivered to His Majesty by the Hon. John Hays Hammond on the occasion of His Majesty’s coronation.

I have the honor to advise you in reply that the department will take pleasure in transmitting the letter to its high destination.
