The Honorable the Secretary of State.

Sir: Referring to Department letter of 8th instant, transmitting a communication of the same date from the Commissioner of Indian Affairs, on the subject of Indians who are not “Christianized,” or who are still free from State control in California and certain other Western States, I have the honor to transmit herewith, as a supplemental statement, a letter from the Commissioner of Indian Affairs, dated the 9th instant, containing certain information which was inadvertently omitted from his report of yesterday.

In accordance with the desire of your Department I have certified to the official character of the Commissioner in the same manner as in yesterday’s letter.
