Dear Mr. Hay: I have just received an answer from Lord Lansdowne in which he desires me to say that His Majesty’s Government highly appreciate the offer which has been made by the President, through you, to convey the remains of Lord Pauncefote to England in a United States vessel, and that they do not hesitate to accept ft on Lady Pauncefote’s behalf.
