No. 698.
Mr. Blaine to Mr. Fish.

No. 213.]

Sir: I have to acknowledge the receipt of your No. 397, and to express my satisfaction respecting your course in the case of Eberhard, [Page 1160] whose emigration to the United States would evidently have proved undesirable.

The communication of the facts mentioned in your No. 400, in the case of the Oliver family, to the collector of customs at New York is approved.

A copy of your No. 403 will be sent to the State board of charities, New York, as you suggest.

I am, &c.,

JAMES G. BLAINE.
