Mexico, July 8, 1874. (Received July 28.)
Sir: On the 4th of July the flags of the Mexican government were displayed on all the public buildings, and also the flags of their respective governments by all the diplomatic and consular representatives of foreign powers resident in this capital. The American citizens resident in this city on that day gave a public banquet, which was attended by President Lerdo and all the members of his cabinet, by officials of the federal district and city governments, by the diplomatic and consular representatives, and by a number of other public men. The utmost cordiality and good feeling prevailed.
