Referring to Mr. De Long’s dispatch of the 2d of June, No. 415, upon the subject of hunting regulations established by the Japanese government, I have to request you to examine those regulations and to report whether, in your opinion, there is anything contained therein which conflicts with the privileges secured by treaty to American citizens in Japan.
