Sir With reference to your 326 of the 9th instant, acquainting the Department with the honors paid to the United States and to the President, by President Domingue and by the diplomatic representatives at Port au Prince, on the national anniversary of the Independence of the United States, I have to request you, in the name of the President, to convey to President Domingue his acknowledgments for the friendly sentiments toward the United States expressed in his note, a copy of which accompanied your dispatch.
