Sir: General Eustorijo Salgar, former minister plenipotentiary from this country to Washington, subsequently President of Colombia, more recently secretary of war and marine, having been elected governor of Cundinamorca, was regularly inaugurated on the morning of the 1st instant.

At 2 o’clock on the same day the members of the diplomatic corps attended at the executive mansion, by invitation of the President, to witness Governor Salgar’s reception, and to afford him opportunity of being formally introduced to them.

In the course of his remarks, on the occasion named, Governor Sal gar said:

Since I have the fortune to find myself in the presence of the honorable diplomatic body, it is pleasing to me to direct to them a cordial salutation, and at the same time to assure them that, as chief magistrate of the state in which the high federal powers and the representatives of friendly nations reside, nothing will be more pleasing to me than to contribute, by all the means within my power, to make their residence in this capital agreeable.
