203. Letter From the Deputy Under Secretary of State for Management (Read) to Helen Cohn Needham1
The Office of the Legal Adviser has been unable to ascertain that any member of the Personnel Bureau has been making improper comments about the class action litigation as described in your letter of January 26.2 Nevertheless, I have instructed the Director General of the Foreign Service and Director of Personnel Barnes to issue a written directive to members of the Department’s personnel staff forbidding [Page 816] them from making any statement or taking any action which might be considered prejudicial to members of the class action.
Sincerely,
