SUBJECT:
- Jamaica—Double Taxation
In his recent meeting with the President, the Jamaican Prime Minister brought up the question of double taxation and stated he wished to send his Minister of Finance to discuss the problem with Secretary Kennedy and other appropriate officials. The President agreed this would be useful.
The President has asked that State and Treasury make appropriate arrangements to receive the Minister of Finance for such discussions, and that Secretary Kennedy receive the Minister when he comes to Washington. He also asks that our readiness to receive the Finance Minister be reconfirmed to the Prime Minister through appropriate State/Embassy channels.
