375. Editorial Note

On August 1, 1962, the House of Representatives passed the Philippines War Damage Bill by a vote of 194 to 35. On August 24, the Senate passed the bill unanimously. The President signed the bill authorizing appropriation of $73 million for Philippine war damage claims, Public Law 87–616 (76 Stat. 411), on August 30. Payment to successful claimants would be in dollars or pesos, as the Secretary of the Treasury prescribed, at the rate of 2 pesos to 1 dollar.
