71. Editorial Note

On August 17, 1960, the Republic of Gabon became independent. Consul General at Brazzaville Alan W. Lukens presented his credentials as Chargé d’Affaires on August 17; see Department of State Bulletin, October 31, 1960, page 702. Lukens was resident at Brazzaville, as was the first Ambassador to Gabon, W. Wendell Blancké, who presented his credentials on January 13, 1961.
