Editorial Note

The President of the General Assembly put the draft resolution on Jerusalem contained in the report of the Ad Hoc Political Committee to a vote on December 15. There was no discussion of the measure. The result was thirty votes in favor, eighteen opposed, and nine abstentions. The United States and the United Kingdom were recorded in opposition; the Soviet Union abstained. Inasmuch as the measure failed to obtain the required two-thirds majority, the draft resolution failed of adoption (GA (V), Plenary, page 684).
