At a meeting held January 8, the Standing Committee of Yunnan Provincial Council decided (1) to telegraph Generalissimo and Mao Tze-tung requesting both sides to cease hostilities immediately and to invite representatives of different parties and groups to mediate; (2) to wire Ambassadors of Big Four requesting that they come forward and mediate; (3) organize movement to work for peace composed of representatives of all classes and groups.
Repeated to Shanghai and Nanking.
