Memorandum of Conversation

Participants: President Truman;
Acting Secretary, Mr. Grew

I called on the President in his study in the White House at 6:50 this evening and took up the following matters:

. . . . . . .

3. I said to the President that the Secretary would be very glad to know if he had approved the list of personnel from the State Department, which we had recommended to him to accompany him to the meeting of the Big Three.2 The President said that he had not seen the list, and I replied that I had sent it to him a day or two ago. He showed me the pile of papers on his desk and said he assumed it was somewhere in that pile, but at any rate, he would be satisfied with our recommendations, and this matter also he wished to leave entirely to the Secretary’s discretion.

. . . . . . .
