Sir: The Department refers to the Embassy’s despatch no. 7879 of September 13, 1944 concerning the exemption from taxation of the revenues obtained in Cuba by vessels owned by or chartered to the War Shipping Administration.

Now that the new administration has assumed office, the Department is of the opinion that the Embassy should press for a prompt and definite reply to its representations on this subject as originally presented to the Cuban Government in note no. 731 of October 15, 1942.⁴⁹
