The Secretary of State to the Ambassador in Colombia ( Lane )

Washington , March 15, 1944—1 p.m.

336. Federal Communications Commission states that station HKG5, Medellfn, using A–2 emission, has been causing destructive interference for the past 3 months to the eastern seaboard operations of the American Airlines, Inc. on the aeronautical frequency 3257.5 kc.

The United States enjoys definite priority rights to 3257.5 kc while HKG5 is not registered for the frequency in the List of Frequencies of the Bureau of International Telecommunications Union.

Please take matter up with appropriate Colombian authorities with the request that steps be taken to eliminate the interference complained of and advise Department of result of your representations.
