320. For FEA.63 Reference is made to circular Airgrams of February 1564 proposing the elimination from import recommendation procedure effective March 1 of five groups of commodities. Upon receiving those proposals from the Embassy Dr. Diego Mejia, head of the Office of Exchange and Export Control, immediately signified his complete acceptance of and deep satisfaction with these and any other proposals which may be forthcoming which will simplify the importation of commodities from the United States. Under present Colombian policy no independent national import controls are in effect or contemplated.
