740.0011 European War 1939/32857: Telegram

The Secretary of State to the Argentine Minister for Foreign Affairs ( Gilbert )

I am deeply appreciative of your telegram of January 2631 informing me that the Argentine Government has severed diplomatic relations with the Governments of Germany and Japan. It is particularly gratifying to learn of this important step directed toward preserving the security and solidarity of the American nations.

I am equally confident that this step will result in an ever increasing spirit of collaboration and unity between our respective countries.
