841. The Guatemalan Government has issued a decree convoking Presidential elections December 17, 18 and 19, a further decree provides for election of a Vice President and establishes qualifications for candidates for President and Vice President with the provision that no member of the Junta or their relatives or Cabinet members may be elected to either position. Also the National Assembly has approved the convoking of a Constitutional Assembly.
