282. ReDepts 177, September 12, 5 p.m. Today British colleague61 and I jointly notified King of 10,000–ton increase in 1944 grain subsidy supply.
British colleague also has instructions to notify King of (1) extra food supply for 1944 pilgrimage as listed in Legation’s 270, Sept. 8, 2 p.m. and (2) offer to stock food reserves at Jidda under conditions stated in Legation’s 274, September 10, noon. Request similar instructions.62
