177. ReLegs 270, September 8, 2 p.m. Department and FEA approve of agreement reached in Jidda, set forth in paragraph (B) of Cairo’s 2687, September 8, 6 p.m.,52 to increase grain shipments from 40,000 to 50,000 tons under joint American-British supply program for Saudi Arabia during 1944. Department and FEA also approve of use of 50,000 ton figure as provisional basis in determining amount of grain to be supplied during 1945.

You and your British colleague jointly should notify King Ibn Saud of the 10,000-ton increase in grain supplies under the 1944 program as soon as your British colleague receives similar instructions from his Government.
