The Minister Resident in Saudi Arabia (Moose) to the Secretary of State
[Received 1:30 p.m.]
185. Yesterday morning British Chargé d’Affaires and I together called on Acting Foreign Minister. I repeated verbally substance of Department’s 1536 to Cairo, June 20, 6 p.m., and of similar message from Landis (Cairo’s June 22, 8 a.m.) which had already been communicated in writing. British Chargé stated that his Government in replying to King’s message had expressed hope of prompt solution of Saudi supply problem and had added that necessary instructions were already on their way to Cairo.
Importance of this communication can only be judged on disclosure of nature of instructions about which British Chargé knows nothing.
Sent Department. Repeated to Cairo for Landis.
