The Secretary of State to the Minister Resident in Saudi Arabia (Moose)
64. The Department approves of your plans set forth in your 110, April 15, 10 p.m.76 to visit King Ibn Saud in Riyadh.
Furthermore, it is believed that you should make frequent periodic trips to Riyadh in the future in order to keep in close touch with the King. You should endeavor to arrange with the military authorities in the Middle East to make a plane available not only for your forthcoming visit to Riyadh but also to make a plane available to you at such times as you consider necessary for other trips to Riyadh in the future. If you are not able to make these arrangements locally with the military authorities, please advise the Department immediately so that the question may be taken up with the War Department.
- Not printed; in this telegram the Minister Resident reported that the King had requested him to come to Riyadh, presumably to discuss the question of increased United States aid (890F.515/99).↩
