1139. Your 926, March 28, 2 p.m. American military authorities here state that they have made exhaustive investigation and have failed to discover any indications whatsoever that an agreement such as that mentioned in first paragraph of Russell’s telegram 76, March 24, 5 p.m. was entered into between American and French authorities in Algiers. At their request we phoned Russell and asked for further particulars which he said he would immediately endeavor to obtain for transmission here.
Will telegraph further developments.
