The Ambassador in Iran (Morris) to the Secretary of State
[Received 3:33 p.m.]
781. Following is paraphrase of note I have received from Prime Minister in reply to my note embodying substance of Department’s 622, October 16:
“I was exceedingly pleased to learn that the American Government has taken note of the fact that the Iranian Government’s decision to postpone the oil negotiations was done in good faith. I wish to express my Government’s appreciation. When the Iranian Government deems it advisable to reconsider the question of oil development the Embassy will be informed and it goes without saying that applications of American nationals will receive consideration.”
