7406. American Interests—Liberated Italy. Legation’s 5150, August 9, 9 p.m. Foreign Office note November 2 states American representatives, according telegram from Swiss Legation Rome, in [Page 1216]southern Italy have taken over completely from October 31, all matters concerning American interests in Rome area. From that date Swiss Legation discontinued payment relief.
Protection American interests in Florence consular district not yet turned over to American representatives. Accordingly Swiss Consulate that city will continue these functions.87
