Memorandum of Telephone Conversation, by the Adviser on Political Relations (Dunn)

Admiral Leahy10 telephoned me this morning and said that he had taken up with the President the note we had from the British Embassy informing us of Prime Minister Churchill’s statement on the possible use of poison gas by the Germans. Admiral Leahy said that the President felt that in view of the Prime Minister’s statement it would serve no useful purpose for the President to take any action along these lines at present.

  1. Adm. William D. Leahy, Chief of Staff to the Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy.
