The Ambassador in Turkey ( Steinhardt ) to the Secretary of State

951. In course of a lengthy conversation yesterday with Prime Minister98 I brought matters enumerated below to his attention and received following replies.
1. Secret instruments which are part of equipment of United States Army bombers interned in Turkey.
Saraçoğlu gave peremptory instructions in my presence that interned aviators be given access to instruments for purpose of delivering them to Embassy. Seals are to be broken in presence of aviators and coding machines and codes are to be delivered to Embassy. $15,000 of United States currency carried by planes is likewise to be delivered to Embassy.
