Memorandum by the Liaison Officer (Wilson) to the Chief of the Division of Near Eastern Affairs (Alling)
[Washington,] April 29, 1942.
Mr. Alling: At the meeting of the Liaison Committee33 held on Monday, April 27, the protection of the oil installations in Saudi Arabia was considered. The representative of the War Department [Page 577] stated that that Department had at present no plans to send any forces or equipment to the region in question. It is the belief that while a possibility of an air raid on the oil fields of that region exists the danger to the refineries on Bahrein Island is much greater.
