367. Department’s confidential telegram No. 236, September 26, 2 p.m. The following Executive Order has been signed by President Barclay and will be published on November 2:
“It is hereby ordered that on and after November 1, 1942 lawful metallic currency of the United States of America and lawful currency notes of the United States of America, of denominations not exceeding $20, shall be legal tender for the payment of all private and public obligations, at the rate of $4 (United States) to the British pound now in circulation in Liberia or $4 (United States) to $4.80 Liberian silver and alloy currency.”
