I have inquired of the interested officers of the Department and of the President’s liaison committee of the Treasury Department in regard to this matter and find that every effort is being made to meet the desires of your Government so far as is possible under existing circumstances. I understand that the President’s liaison committee is in frequent consultation with Major Chaltchi and that it is expected that definite information can be conveyed to him within a few days in regard to the planes that can be obtained in this country and possible dates of delivery.
You may be assured that I shall keep this matter in mind.
