61. The Ministry for External Affairs informs me that a request made by the Irish Minister in Washington5 for the purchase of one to four destroyers for this Government has apparently met with some difficulties. The Ministry here has therefore asked me to repeat this request for one to four destroyers and to ascertain whether there is any possibility of obtaining delivery. Would appreciate any information which I may transmit to the Ministry in this connection.
