- It would appear that the occupation of Albania is an eventuality which the Turkish Foreign Office has long contemplated as a possibility [Page 396] but without especial concern, their primary preoccupation being possibility of action on the part of Bulgaria. The event has however brought much closer home to the Turkish public the danger of the present situation.

- In view of the conversations held here over the weekend between the Turkish and Rumanian Ministers for Foreign Affairs the results of which are still conjectural, I do not feel in a position to submit more specific comment than was contained in my telegram No. 20, March 27, 7 p.m.,39 until I shall have been able to consult the Minister for Foreign Affairs as I hope to have the opportunity of doing tomorrow.
