I despatched warnings yesterday by telegraph or airmail to all American missionaries known to be in Kansu south and east of the Yellow River pointing out that the return to northwestern Szechuan from Sikang of a large group of Communists who may try to combine forces with the Communists now occupying part of eastern Kansu on the Ningsia border constitutes a serious threat to Kansu and urging the exercise of the utmost caution.
