The Consul at Geneva (Gilbert) to the Secretary of State
[Received July 3—5:33 p.m.]
284. The Mexican delegation withdrew from the Bureau of the Assembly2 this afternoon and presented a formal communication to the President3 to the effect that it could not countenance the course of events being followed in the League and therefore ceased to participate in the consideration of the Italo-Ethiopian dispute.
The Bureau faced by widely divergent views is still desperately engaged [Page 181] in an endeavor to draft a three point resolution to be placed before the Assembly on sanctions, the Argentine declaration, and League reforms.
